Sammie, affectionately called Junior, was called home in the early hours of Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
Sammie (Junior), son of the late Sam Cross and Mildred Waters, was born on February 29, 1960.
He enjoyed watching sports, fishing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Many people would agree that the food he cooked was beyond delicious. With a brush in hand, Junior went on to start his own successful business as a painter building a business and passing on his entrepreneurial spirit to us all.
Six beloved siblings preceded him in death, Kenneth Cross (Mary), Ernie Mae Cross, Linda Cross, Mildred Cross, Sam Cross, and Mary Cross.
He is survived by a brother, Dennis Cross; three children, Quincy Cross, Kerwin Cross (Latifah), and Melanie King (Ronnie); and six grandchildren or as he called them "his babies," Weston Dean, Bry'Elle, Brylee K., Ronnie Jr., Ayneesa, and Dy'mond. He is also survived by two aunts, Beatrice (Polly) Walker, Betty Milliner (James) and four uncles, George Cross (Gloria), Willie B. Cross, Jimmy Cross of Americus, and Albert Sampson, Jr. of Augusta, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
