The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Big Bethel Baptist Church, 1330 North Jackson Street, Americus, Georgia. The Reverend Curtis Iverson, pastor of Triedstone Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.
She was born March 9, 1913 to the late John Henry Ford and Julia Neal Ford in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by one sister, Margie Lee Wiggins, one son-in-law, York Green, and a niece, Ada Wade. She was educated in the Marion County School system. She first received church and Christian training was at Union Oak Grove Baptist Church, Andersonville, Georgia. At an early age, she joined Triedstone Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. E. B. Clark where she served faithfully at the church she loved so well. She served as the Mother of the Church from 1976 - 1998, Deaconess Ministry Board and Missionary Auxiliary Board. After many dedicated years of service, she retired as a Homemaker.
In June 1930, she was united in Holy matrimony to the late Taylor Jackson. She was blessed to be the mother of two daughters. After her health began to decline, she moved with her daughter, Marjorie, to Miami, Florida.
Survivors are two daughters, Rosa Green, Americus, Georgia and Marjorie Floyd (Sanford), Miami, Florida; seven loving grandchildren, Marcus Floyd, Safondra Floyd, both of Miami, Florida, Gloria Anderson, Americus, Georgia, Gwendolyn Ann Smith, Miami, Florida, Lewis Cornelius Smith, James Arthur Smith (Anna), and Ulysses Green, all of Americus, Georgia; sixteen loving great grandchildren; one niece, Julia Smith, Cleveland, Ohio; a host of other relatives and friends including several devoted friends, Annie Mae Paschal and Rubie Lusane.
RIP Mrs. Sally. I remember many days with her in Sunset Park when she had the store where we would get snow cones and play with the chickens in her yard. We spent many days at Triedstone Baptist Church together. She will always be in our hearts.
