Mr. Roderick Bernard Smith, Sr. was born February 1, 1973 to Bettye Walker Collier Smith, and the late Bud Smith, Jr. in Macon County, Georgia. Because of his Christian upbringing he joined Piney Grove Baptist Church at an early age and there he remained until his demise.
At a early age his parentage continued with the tender love and care of Minnie Sneed whom he affectionately called “Ma” and Charlie Sneed Jr., who preceded him in death. He was educated at the historic Lamson Richardson Elementary School in Marshallville, and was a 1992 graduate of the historic D.F. Douglas High School in Montezuma.
A true athlete, he loved football and basketball. He participated in Macon County Recreation Department Little League. He will be forever known as one of the greatest basketball players in Macon County history - Hornet #34. He furthered his education at Casper Community College in Casper, Wyoming - Casper Thunderbird #14. He mastered several trades but most dear to his heart was carpentry. He saw it, designed it, and built it to perfection. He volunteered endlessly in his latter years to better himself and others. He owned and operated A&R Construction.
