The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2011 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow in Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Georgia Highway 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Mrs. Pearlie Julia Varner Harris was born December 15, 1923 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia to the late Charlie Varner, Sr. and Eugenia Jones Varner. She was educated in the public school system of Schley County. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Davis Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served for several years as Secretary and supported every facet of the church she loved so well.
She was united in holy matrimony to Wesley Harris, who preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Winnie Mae Ingram Richard, Mrs. Mattie Cary, Mrs. Reatha Vinson Howard and Mr. Charlie Varner, Jr.
Pearlie was employed with various companies which, include Southern Frozen Foods Inc., Montezuma, Georgia as a grader and Montezuma Health Care where she retired as a cook after many dedicated years of service.
She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to her beloved sister, nieces and nephews; her sister, Emma Robinson (Henry), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, her nieces, Eula Mae Mintz, Columbus, Georgia, Minnie Jean Ingram, Americus, Georgia, Mrs. Ozie Meadows (Carl), Miami, Florida, Mrs. Reatha Edwards (Phillip), Pembrooke Pines, Florida, Mrs. Pattie Robinson, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Irene Foster (Charlie) her beloved caretaker, Americus, Georgia and Ms. Yvonne Ingram, Americus Georgia; nephews, Charlie Roy Ingram (Susie) Americus, Georgia, Solomon Franklin, Jr., Columbus, Georgia; and a host of beloved relatives and devoted friends, including her spiritual daughter, Linda Cephus of Montezuma, Georgia.
