The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 132 Bumphead Road, Americus, Georgia. Reverend Jermaine Harris, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Staley Memorial Gardens, corner of Southerfield Road and Mayo Street, Americus, Georgia.
Paul Williamson, son of the late Mr. Eddie Williamson, Sr. and Mrs. Janie Germany Williamson, was born on August 2, 1949 along with his twin sister, Paulene. He was preceded in death by a son Korrey Harris, and seven siblings, Eddie Williamson Jr., George Williamson, Minnie Lee Williams, Amos Williamson, Sammie Williamson, Henry Williamson, and Sallie Williamson. He attended the public school system of Sumter County and was a 1970 graduate of Staley High School. He also attended South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia. Following graduation he entered into the United States Army where he served his country proudly. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a faithfully member of the Allen Chapel A.M.E. where has served as Trustee and most recently served on the Steward Board and as a member of the choir.
Paul was employed as a Fireman for the City of Americus. He was a Fire Inspector with the Albany Marine Logistic Base later transferring on the Base to Garrison Mobile Equipment where he worked with Railroad System before retiring in June 2011 with 30 years of dedicated service. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 558 and theMasonic Lodge # 17. Paul also served as a Debitor with the Oglethorpe Burial Society.
On September 19, 1986, he married the love of his life, his friend, confidant and prayer partner, the former Annie Ruth Thomas and to this union, they were blessed to raise two sons Korrey and Christopher . He was a good husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, son-in-law, and friend. He loved everyone he met and met them with a smile. He loved his family.
He leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories, his wife of 31 years, Annie Thomas-Williamson of Americus, Georgia; a son, Christopher Williamson of Americus, Georgia; a devoted niece whom he help reared as his own Jennifer (Tayborn) Virgin Pensacola, Florida and her children: Steve, Jasmine, Dondre, and JaMarcus; four siblings, Johnnie B (Annie Kate) Williamson of Ellaville, Georgia, Willie Pearl Price of Toledo, Ohio, Paulene (Thomas) Smith of Americus, Georgia, and Marvis (Rev. William) Spears of Albany, Georgia; father and mother-in-law, Deacon & Mrs. Bennie Thomas, Sr.; sisters/ brothers-in-law Annie Pearl Williamson of Springfield, Massachusetts, Dorothy Williamson, Hartford, Connecticut , Arrena Solomon, Plains, Georgia, Moses Williams, Mableton, Georgia, Ezekiel (Carolyn) Thomas, Bennie (Clara) Thomas, Jr., Nathaniel (Vyrtis) Thomas, Mitchellville, Maryland, Rev. Roy (Evangelist Jacqueline) Thomas, Freeport, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including his two god daughters DeAndra Edmonds of Atlanta, Ga and Natalie-Henderson (Rev. Paul) Little of Warner Robins; loving nieces Evon, Annie Jean, Minnie Mae, Charlene, Joyce, Towanda, Nicey, Tina, Winnie, Chris, Sarah, and Pam; devoted friends; Carl Edmond, Ronald Coley, James Ross, John Hayes, John Mitchell, Sr., James Baker, Ben Clark, John Lewis, Odell Bacon, Howard Stafford, Willie Hill, Chris Easley, Arthur Douglas, Bobbie Seay, Barbara Edmond, Ray Jean Henderson ,Archie Porter, Rev.
