The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Lower River Road, Drayton, Georgia.
Otto Otis Mann was born on January 29, 1929 in Drayton, Dooly County, Georgia to the late Otis “Preacher” Mann and Mary Hayes-Dunn. He was educated in the Dooly County School System. He started working at an early age and was always a hard worker up until his retirement in 2005. He worked in the car detail business for most of his adult life and also as a tow truck driver. He was a faithful member and deacon of St. James Baptist Church for over 25 years in Coconut Grove, Florida. He later became a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in 1990 in Miami, Florida. He loved the Lord and would always speak about how good God was to him and how he enjoyed talking and listening to God.
During his lifetime, he was wed three times. His first union was with Bernice Green in 1951 and out of his union with Bernice four children were born. Bernice preceded him in death in 1958. His second union was with Thelma Isom Mann in 1960. Thelma also preceded him in death in 1988. His third union was with Mollie Mann and she preceded him in death in 2017. He is preceded in death by one son Otto Mann, Jr. He moved back to the family home in Montezuma, Georgia to spend time with his sisters and brothers. They looked after him and took very good care of him. On November 8, 2017 he made an earthly transition and now he rests in peace at the age of 88.
He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Lucy Mann-Dykes of Jacksonville, FL, Lillie B. Mann and Shirley Christie (Al) both of Miami, FL and a step-daughter, Sabrina Smith of Miami, FL; three sisters, Jannie Lou Daniels, Virginia Mitchell, and Genoria Dunn all of Montezuma, GA, and an adopted sister, Vinell McBride of Fort Pierce, FL; three brothers, Armie Dunn, Henry Dunn, and Alvin Dunn all of Montezuma, GA; three sister-in-laws, Velma Jones of Springfield, MA, Earlene Jones of Miami, FL, and Mae Bertha Jones of West Palm Beach, FL; one uncle, Coolidge Johnson of West Palm Beach, FL; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many devoted friends.
