The funeral service will held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Brown Chapel A.M.E Church, Pineville Road, Buena Vista, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery, Buena Vista, Georgia.
Ms. Osola Ivory was born March 17, 1929, to Alberta Mamie Walker Ivory and George (Son) Ivory, Sr. in Marion County, Buena Vista, Georgia. Osola accepted Christ and was baptized at Brown Chapel A.M. E. Church. She worked in the church as an usher for years under the leadership of Ms. Lula Neal.
She was educated in the Marion County School at Brown Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Osola worked at Fort Benning Army Base before moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a June 1964 graduate of the National School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Osola worked at Nazareth Hospital until retirement. After retiring, she moved back to Georgia to be closer to her family. Osola was an active member at the Buena Vista/Marion County Senior Center where she developed close friendships with other senior citizens in the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers George Ivory, Jr., Lester Ivory, Willie Lee Ivory, Eugene Ivory, and sisters Gertrude Ivory Hughey, Lizzie Mae Ivory Thomas, Ruby L. Ivory Jackson, Mae Ola Ivory Taylor, and Alma Ivory Woodard.
Osola is survived by a sister, Jeanie I. Kendrick of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two brothers, Sidney Ivory (wife, Geraldine) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Major Ivory (wife, Rebecca) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; a large number of devoted nieces and nephews also survive.
