The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Andersonville National Cemetery Rostrum, Cemetery Drive, Andersonville, Georgia. The Reverend George Williams will officiate.
Mort Douglas Davis was born October 29, 1931 Madison, Madison County, Florida to the late Reverend John Miles Davis and Bessie Bevel Davis. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Jamie Davis Matthews and George Davis. He was educated in the public school system of Madison, Florida. After acquiring his education Mort moved to Newark, New Jersey where he was inducted into the United States Army. During his time of service, he was with the Infantry-United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Corporal October 1, 1960. After his service time, Mort returned back to Newark, Jew Jersey where he was employed with Fair Kendol and retired as a forklift driver after thirty years of dedicated services around 1990.
Mort met and married the former Mamie Wilkerson of Americus, Georgia and was blessed to be the father of four children. He leaves a legacy of golden memories to his beloved family which include his wife, Mrs. Mamie W. Davis, Americus, Georgia; his four children, Albert Ranson, Melrose, Florida, Sabrina Davis Burt, Warner Robins, Georgia, Diane Davis, Americus, Georgia and Katrana Wilkerson Luellen, Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mamie Wilkerson, Americus, Georgia; nephews and nieces, George Williams, Jr. Madison, Florida, Bessie Hunter Sanford, Florida and Sheila Fudge, Deltona, Florida; and a host of other relatives and beloved friends.
