Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, October 7, 2022, at Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Minnie Jesse Reid was the fourth child of ten children born on January 7, 1944, in Canton, Georgia to the late Robert L. Pye, Sr. and Mable Geneva Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. The family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1947 where Minnie attended Knoxville Public Schools graduating from Austin High School where she majored in Cosmetology.
Minnie and her family moved to Hartford, CT in 1966 where she worked for Mass Mutual Insurance Company for over twenty years. She and her family relocated to her husband’s hometown of Americus, GA in 1989. She worked at Wal-mart for fifteen years then retired. Minnie had a servant's heart always willing to serve. She was a faithful member of Union Tabernacle Baptist Church for years serving as a kitchen helper. She was a praying woman and worshipper. She truly loved the Lord. She was a very loving, kind and a caring person. She was family oriented and loved them. She will be truly missed by family and friends. Minnie was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Robert Pye, and one sister, Priscilla Taylor.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband, General Reid; son, Carl Reid; daughter, Vatina Reid-Williams; two brothers, Joe Pye and Edmond Pye; four sisters, Maggie Cherry, Sylvia Wyatt, Darlene Delee (Anthony) and Mary Giles; Four grandchildren, Marquise Reid, Danyel Reid, Raven Reid, Mekelle Reid and four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
