The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the New Hope Baptist Church, GA Hwy 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia, where Rev. Allen Waters, Jr. is pastor. Minister Patricia Ashley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
Mrs. Joiner was born January 25, 1934 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Jay Journey and Estella McKenzie West. She was preceded in death by one brother, Edmond Journey. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County. At an early age she joined the New Hope Baptist Church. She was married to the late Alexander Washington “A.W.“ Joiner, Sr. and to this union they were blessed with nine children. After many years of dedicated services in 1970 she retired as a C.N.A. with the Montezuma Health Care Center, Montezuma, Georgia. She had a new awakening in her Christian’s life and joined the band of believers at the New Creation Deliverance Tabernacle Holiness Church where she remained a dedicated soldier of God. She was the Mother of the Church and a Deaconess.
Survivors include nine loving and devoted children, Charlie Journey (Martha), Americus, Georgia, Betty Tookes (Willie), Ft. Valley, Georgia, John Joiner, Ft. Valley, Georgia, Clarence Joiner, Sr. (Ruth Ann), Warner Robins, Georgia, Shirley Lockhart, Perry, Georgia, Kenneth Joiner (Angela), Perry, Georgia, A. W. Joiner, Jr., Ruth Ann (Eric Aldridge), and Patricia Joiner all of Montezuma, Georgia; thirty three grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; three sisters, Betty Collier, Betty Solomon (John) all of Montezuma, Georgia and Idell Barwick, Miami, Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruthie Mae Howard, Ideal, Georgia, Elnora Joiner, Bertha Joiner and Susie Lee Butler all of Montezuma, Georgia, May Chambers, Miami, Florida, Ella Maude West, Florida City, Florida and Dee Eddie Joiner (Betty Jo), Montezuma, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and beloved friends, including a devoted friend, Cleveland Myers, Americus, Georgia.
