The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Road, Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at Staley Memorial Cemetery, Mayo Street, Americus, Georgia.
Mary was born July 29, 1942 in Leslie, Georgia to the late Jasper Robinson and Mary Prince Robinson. She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County and was a 1961 graduate of Staley High School, in Americus, Georgia. Mary worked as a Quality Control Inspector at Textron Davidson Rubber Company. She retired after over 20 years of service.
Mary was united in Holy matrimony to the late Andrew Jackson Garry, Sr. To this union five children were born. Ms. Garry was preceded in death by one child, Andrew Garry, Jr., and two brothers, Horace Robinson and Willie B. Parks. Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the New Corinth Baptist Church at an early age where her service encompassed serving on the Usher Board until August of 1999. She joined Shady Grove Baptist Church and continued her services as president over the Usher Board until her health no longer allowed her to serve.
In passing, Mary Garry leaves behind a legacy of love with cherished memories from all of her family.
She leaves three daughters and one son; Cynthia Robinson (Homer) Bell, Americus, Georgia, Dr. Tracy Robinson Sims, West Palm Beach, Fl, Regina Garry (Fred) Davis, Cassius Marcellus (Chandra) Garry, Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Britne, and MyKayla Sims, Lil Mary Garry (Ulyssee) Moore, Kashaun, and Riana Davis, Hikeem (Chyna) Garry and Cassius Garry Jr., two great grandchildren; Adonis Garry and Uriah Moore; brother, Rosco (Ora) Robinson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Will Garry, Willie Lou (George) Clark, Far Rock Away, New York, Author Lee (late Lula Mae) Garry, and Charlie Lee Garry, Americus, Georgia; devoted godson, Bishop Larry (Lily) Taylor; a devoted cousin Mattie Ruth Prince; devoted friends, Lillie Pace, Dessie Floyd, Evelyn Maddox, Martha Sneed, L.C. Ball; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
