The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Evergreen Road, Mauk, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Joseph Brown, pastor, will officiate. The remains will lay in state at the church one hour prior to service.
Mrs. Martha Rene Sanders Small was born January 6, 1939 in Taylor County, Georgia to the late Jimmy Lee Sanders and Atherene Jenkins Sanders. Martha was preceded in death by four siblings, Josephine Reeves, Hazel L. Durham, Mary Jane Stalling, and Stanford C. Robinson She was educated in the public school system of Taylor County. At an early age, she joined the Evergreen Baptist Church where she had received her Christian training. She was a great supporter and dedicated member of Evergreen Baptist Church, but as the years passed, her health declined making it impossible for her to attend regularly.
She was united in holy matrimony to Charlie Beech Small, and, to this union, they were blessed with seven children. One son, Willie Charles Small, and her husband, Charlie, preceded her in death. Martha was a loving wife and a wonderful mother. She taught her children to love each other and to put Jesus first in their lives. Her legacy will long be remembered by those whom she touch along life's way.
Survivors are six loving and devoted children and their spouses, Michael Allan Small, Gary Leroy Small both of Tazewell, Georgia, Susan Small Tookes (Aubrey), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Roxanne Small, Tazewell, Georgia, Allen Brent Small (Barbara), Buena Vista, Georgia, and Alfred Bernard Small, Tazewell, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Toleashea Tookes, Jameka Tookes, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Gary Kelly, Laquita Kelly, both of Buena Vista, Georgia, Sabrina Kelly, Americus, Georgia, Andrew Kelly, Columbus, Georgia, and Bridget Kelly, Buena Vista, Georgia; thirteen great grandchildren; three siblings, Wynell Sanders, Tazewell, Georgia, Lonell Rogers, Americus, Georgia, Januita Miller, Mauk, Georgia, and Wayne Sanders, Reynolds, Georgia; two half siblings, Lora Ann Searcy Smith (David) and Cecil Searcy, all of Butler, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Sales, Buena Vista, Georgia and Fannie Nell Williams, Butler, Georgia; brother–in-law, Milton Small, Jacksonville, Florida; a host of beloved nieces and nephews including two devoted nieces, Lisa Reeves Hill and Dorothy Reeves, both of Tazewell, Georgia; a host of cousins and friends including Mrs. Mary Francis Jolly Prince, Americus, Georgia.
