Mark Curtis Clark, age 58, passed on March 12, 2023.

A wake service will be held from 5:00-6:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Andersonville National Cemetery Rostrum, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia. 

Mark Curtis Clark, was born December 29, 1964 to his beloved parents James Melvin Black and the late Idella Clark in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia. Mark proved to be a smart young man - always an “A” student from kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Being that he was interested in traveling, he first joined the Army National Guard of Georgia whereas he accomplished much. While serving his time in the National Guard, his accomplishments includes his rank Private First Class, served in Company B (-DET 1), 560 Engineer Battalion which completed his service duty the 8th of September 1983. Mark was interested in giving to his country, therefore he enlisted into the United States Navy in October 1987 whereas he entered into the field of Medicine. His accomplishments were many. His command was transferred as primary specialty: HM-8404 Medical Field Technician, 0SYRS/02MOS, HM-8452-Advanced x-ray Technical 8452-YRS/09mos, and HM-8451-Basic x-ray Technician Military Education: Hospital Corpsman Class “A” School, 88 Mar/Basic X-Ray Technician School, Advance x-Ray Technician School and Field Medical Service School. His Decorations, Medals, Badges, Citations and campaign ribbons awarded include: National Defense Service Medal/Sea Service Deployment Ribbon/Navy Expeditionary Medal Battle “E” Ribbon/Good Conduct Medal (2). His last tour of duty was served NAVHEDGEN, Ports, Virginia and after nine years he was honorably discharged from active duty June 1996 at PERSUPPDET, Ports, Virginia.

He leaves a legacy of love and many fonds
 memories to his beloved family; his wife, Sharon Denise Johnson Clark, Montezuma, Georgia; his beloved daughter, Anitrus Johnson (Marcus), Warner Robins, Georgia; god daughters Makya Haynes, Justyce Haynes both of Perry, Georgia; his siblings, Joann Waymon, Montezuma, Georgia, Willie James Johnson (Robin), Americus, Georgia, Myrtice Johnson, Brooklyn, New York, Mary Atkins (Jeff), Jonesboro, Georgia, and James Melvin Black, Americus, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Ola Mae Williams, Lovie Williams and Annie Williams Nelson all of Americus, Georgia, Alice Pennemon, Atlanta, Georgia, Kenneth Boddie (Angie), Ellaville, Georgia, Joseph Boddie Jr. and Alexandra Boddie; he had a host of nieces including his extra special nieces who would always come and give him a helping hand, Charlotte Clark, Angela Clark, Marlene Lester; a devoted nephew, Dequentez Strong; Sisters/brother-in-law, Mattie Ridley (Sam), Perry, Georgia, Richard Brown (Mae Franice), Marshallville, Georgia, Regina Johnson, Lillie Williams both of Ellaville, Georgia, Mary Johnson, Newark, New Jersey; There is all ways those special friends who would come by to chat and make jokes to cheer him up which include Jeff Chavis, Edward Chavis, Darrell Kaigler, Kenneth Boland, David Larry, Connie Walker , Eddie Daniels, Eddie Williams and Marilyn Ford.

To the Clark / Waymon family: Sorry for your loss our time in this world is short. God blesses us with love laughter and the pursuit of happiness. Mark time on this earth has come and gone. Now we don’t want to but we must move on. I pray to God that you all can find peace and comfort in each other. In Jesus name Amen.
