I have just learned of Marion's death. Marion and I went to Douglass together. We also played together in Montezuma as a child. To the family and friends, I leave you with this: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as other which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him." Sleep on my brother

Its been two weeks since you went on to your resting place. I have thought about you everyday since your passing and I keep thinking its a dream, but soon realize it is not. I remember the last time you came home in August 2011, you kept saying, "I'm so proud of you all". You always had that strong voice and until the end, you kept it. I'm so glad I got the chance to speak to you before your passing. You were so much like our father and like him you were our hero too. We learned a lot from you and daddy and this has kept our family strong and able to stand against many stones that are thrown our way. A lot of times we (sisters) have had to play the (mom and dad) in our family, but we have been able to survive because of what we learned by watching strong leaders like you and daddy. We will continue to try to keep strong and cherish the memories spent with you. I know sometimes we shy away from saying what we feel and we need to start practicing now, to tell each other that we love them; I know you cannot hear me now, but please know in my heart I did love you. I know you are in a better place where there is no more pain or suffering. I hope I can raise my son "Nick" to be just like you and daddy.

My Best Friend, my Mentor, my Protector, my Hero, my Dad. Thank you for your love and support throughout the years. I will keep you glued in my heart until we meet again. I feel blessed to have you as a father your infinite wisdom guided me through very tough and trying times and I know I will get through this just as you taught me. Even in your passing I learn from you. I will cherish all the memories of you for the rest of my life. My favorite memory of you is most definatly your laugh and smile. I can only hope that one day I will be as good of a Dad to my children as you were to me. To those who knew and loved him stay strong, he would have wanted it. He is in a better place. You once told me that you were proud of me, little did you know-I was just as proud of you. I love you Dad! One day we will meet again. - Lashonda Walters and Family(Monday, April 09 12 10:48 pm EDT)

As long as you carry the memories of Marion in your heart, he lives on. We know that nothing we can say can fill the void that has been left behind, but remember the love and continue to cherish it with each other. You are all in our prayers, and we are here for you. Our cousin will be missed. - Martha Ann Sanders(Sunday, April 08 12 04:34 pm EDT)
Marion you were a great "big cousin". I remember as though it was yesterday when me and my younger brother would sit on our front porch longing for the opportunity to go off the porch and sit on the "stoop or block" as we called them to see what actions were happening, yet because we were only about 6 or 7 years old our mama wouldnt let us. Well after a while a lean tall figure would come from around the corner sit on the block and Rodney and I both knew we could go and hang, if only for a minute with you because my mom knew we were in good hands. U moved away to another state and I eventually I grew up and moved to Atlanta and unfortunately I did not keep in touch like I should have. God has called one of his sweet and kind children home and u will forever be in my heart. - Brenda Davis(Sunday, April 08 12 10:13 am EDT)
