Graveside services will be conducted by Pastor Johnny Lundy at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, McDonald Road, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Lucile was born August 20, 1941 in Andersonville, Georgia to the late Pauline Williamson and late Minder Rucker. She was later reared by her mother, Pauline Harris and stepfather, Henry Lee Harris. After her mother’s death she was reared by a village of aunts Mary Webb, Catherine Melvin, Susie Taylor, Janie B. Schofield, Josephine Williamson, Essie English, and Sallie Mae Hicks and a host of uncles. She was educated in the Macon County school system with the Class of 1959. Missionary Harris was a devout Christian and loved singing for the Lord. She attended New Life Holiness Church of Oglethorpe, Georgia where she served as a Missionary under Overseer Johnny Lundy and Pastor Derita Solomon.
She was an employee of Southern Frozen Food for 44 years where she retired as a Food Inspector. Lucile was known best for her pies, cakes, and Brunswick Stew. She met no strangers with her sweet spirit and radiating smile. Lucile opened her home to many and fed numerous people in the community.
Two sons, Tony Williams and Minder Rucker, and one brother, Dr. Robert Dawson, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories five children Danny (Juvy) Williams, Paula Harpe, Delorie (Donia) Kendrick, Ruthie Turner all of Oglethorpe, Ga. Ronnie (Sherri) Williams of Hagerstown, Maryland. Twenty-three grandchildren, Casandra Hudson Rogers (Daniel), Tony Williams Jr. (Stephanie), Tequila Young, Tomealya Hudson, Tyesha Rucker, Deondra Hudson (Reginald Solomon), Chelsey Wade, Jammie Williams, Ashley Turner, Domienike Hudson, Jasper Williams, Ravaik Williams (Sara), Javian Williams (Sheaira), Joselyn Wade, Jeremy Hudson, O’Bryan Shelley, Patrice Williams, Jaylan Kendrick, Kerry Daniel, Winter Williams, De’Treyvion Larry, A’Treyvianna Hudson, Markiya Hudson and twenty five great grands. One sister in law, Cheryl Dawson of Americus, GA. A host of nieces and nephews. Special friends and cousins Annie Pearl Hamilton and Brenda Dean. Another special friend Connie Rocquemore.
