Lillie Jeannette Murray Flemming, age 87, passed on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Hospice Atlanta Center in Decatur, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, McDuffie Street, Buena Vista, Georgia. Reverend Gregory Porter, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at  Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Oliver Street, Buena Vista, Georgia

Lillie Jeannette Flemming was the fourth child born to the late Tebe Murray and Lillie (Neal) Murray on January 11, 1929.  She was preceded in death by three siblings: Essie Rushin, Charlie Murray, Sr. and Lelia Scott.

She received her early educational training in the public school in Marion County graduating high school at the age of 16.  Following graduation she enrolled at Albany State College but due to the illness of her mother she had to return home to take care of her.  After returning home she met and married the love of her life the late John Wesley Flemming, Sr. and to this union they were blessed with two beautiful  children.

Lillie was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Buena Vista, Georgia, where she served in the Church Choir, Missionary Ministry, and Mother Board.  She was also a founding member of the Top Twenty Club. During her life here she was known for her amazing cakes while she enjoyed basketball, fishing and cooking big meals.  Not a week went by where she was baking a cake for someone or some event.  Her love for children made her job at the Marion County Public School System a joy. She worked faithfully as a Secretary with the school system until she retired. She will be missed but she is celebrating with God and her family in her heavenly robe.

She leaves her legacy and a lifetime of memories to her two children, Gwendolyn Satcher, Decatur, Georgia and John Wesley Flemming, Jr. (Michelle) Columbus, Georgia; four grandchildren, Nichole Burkett, Lithonia. Georgia, Eryn Satcher, Decatur, Georgia Shantel Flemming, California, Sabrina Flemming, Atlanta, Georgia; and three great grandchildren, Janelle, Kayla, and James Wesley; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The death of a loved one is one of the most stressful things humans experiences. But we have hope, God has promise at Isaiah 25:8 which states,"He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. Jehovah himself has spoken it." A life without tears, death and pain will soon be a reality. Hold on to God promise in this time of sorrow.(John 5:28,29).

Condolences sent to the family of Mrs Fleming from the Porter family. We send a prayer of strength to Gwen and Wesley and all the family of Mrs. Fleming. She was very compassionate about her flowers in that she gave me a beautiful plant from her home and ask me to take it home to nurture. I was honored for her to ask me. We always looked for each other at the Post Office! During my time of school, she was always present during my educational years. As an adult she was my secretary at Tri- County High School in the Counseling Dept. A truly grateful lady, I was proud to have been in her life.

Gwendolyn and Wesley you have my deepest felt sympathy. We were in Girl Scouts together and, I've always thought well of you and your family. May God continue to bless you and the family as days will turn into weeks, months and years. However, Be not dismayed God will take care of you and strengthen you as time is a great healer.
