The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at New Piney Grove Baptist Church, 7126 Hwy 49 North, Montezuma, Georgia where Rev. Oscar Small is Pastor. Burial will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.
Lillie Bell Abbott Solomon was born in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia on May 29, 1932 to the late Sylvester Abbott Sr. and Millie Ann Kingdom Abbott. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Solomon, and all nine siblings, Sylvester Abbott Jr., Willie Abbott, J.W. Abbott, Anderson Abbott, Essie B. Abbott, Ezzie Abbott, Millie Ann Gouch, Carrie Lee Abbott and Mary Abbott. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County. At an early age, she joined the band of Christian Believers at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. On December 15, 1950, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late J.W. Solomon and to this union three children were born. She continued to worship the Lord and serve faithfully alongside her husband at New Piney Grove Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia where served as vice president of the church choir. She was employed with the Macon County Board of Education as a Cook at Macon County High School. After 29 years of dedicated services she retired.
Lillie enjoyed gardening, cooking, and caring for her family and friends. She had a kind spirit and a great personality that shined through laughter.
She leaves to cherish her memories two devoted children, John Willie Solomon (Derita), Barbara Greer, all of Montezuma, Georgia; a stepdaughter Lorraine Duncan, Montezuma, Georgia; a step granddaughter Adrian Harris, Warner Robins, Georgia; just like daughters, Shelia Warren and Annie Tookes; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including devoted nieces, Yvonne Martin, Pontiac, Michigan, Koweta Solomon, Montezuma, Georgia and Barbara Dillard, Cleveland, Ohio; devoted nephews, Otis Solomon, Alabama, Dewayne Clark, Jacksonville, Florida, Maurice Abbott, Griffin, Georgia, and Kenny Solomon, Montezuma, Georgia; devoted friends, Gussie Harris, Marjorie Hillman both of Oglethorpe, Georgia and Hazel Thompson of Montezuma, Georgia; sisters-in law, Clara Dickens, Macon, Georgia, Peggy Hankerson (James), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Dorothy Solomon, and Isabell Abbott both of Montezuma, Georgia; and a devoted caregiver, Renarda Felton.
