The first public viewing will take place on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 1:00-6:00 P.M. at Meadows Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
The second public viewing will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 1:00-7:00 P.M. at Meadows Funeral Home of Albany, 315 South Madison Street, Albany, Georgia.
The home going service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 901 South Westover Boulevard, Albany, Georgia. The remains will lay in state one hour prior to the start of the service.
Lillian Benton Fowler was the oldest daughter and the fifth of twelve children born to the late Charlie Benton and the late Pearl Johnson Benton on March 24, 1932, in Shellman, Georgia. Sister Fowler accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Union Baptist Church in Shellman, Georgia.
She attended Randolph County public schools and graduated from Shellman Vocational High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education at Albany State College in 1955. She was united in marriage to her true love, the late Reverend Edward John Fowler, Jr. She was a cherished and devoted wife for 62 years. They were blessed with six children.
Sister Fowler had a career as an educator in the Terrell County School District that spanned approximately 40 years. During her career she received numerous awards, including Teacher of the Year multiple times.
Sister Fowler passed peacefully on September 4, 2023, surrounded by her children in Macon, Georgia. We rejoice, for God is good, and He keeps His promises.
