Mrs. Leola Hankerson, age 93, passed on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 16, 2016, Jehovah Baptist Church, 110 Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia, where Reverend Glenn Bryant is pastor.  Reverend Hosie Waters, pastor of Magnolia Baptist Church, Montezuma Georgia, will officiate.

How Do You Describe A Full Life?
A wonderful arm full of bubbling brown sugar of Mary Willie Hammond, a single Mom;
She grew up smart, cute, and strong;
A Christian who loved God exceedingly so;
A young lady who was a looker, when she met Lorenzo, her beau;
A young blushing bride and wife, before Lorenzo’s departure, for 56 years;
A mother of 6 and nothing from them but joy;
Hmmm, maybe a couple of tears;
A worker with nothing but accolades from her bosses;
A retirement “truly earned” after few absent days from work or losses;
A board member of several organizations;
Who, as a member, was fortunate to travel a lot;
Traveling, what an education;
When someone said let’s go, she was a “Johnny on the spot”;
A “dresser” with a wardrobe that could put Vogue magazine to shame;
Who was that? Leola was her name;
Children, grands, and great-grands;
And 93 years to tout;
God was good to her;
And That’s no doubt!

This blessed lady leaves to cherish her memory, a loving family. Children: Anna Hankerson Thornton of Atlanta; Loretta Hankerson Bradley, Oglethorpe; Gwendolyn Hankerson Willis (J. Mack Willis, Sr.), Marietta, and a son, Harold Devaughn Hankerson, Sr., Oglethorpe. Grandchildren: Dana Hankerson Dyson (Ben), Mableton;    Kenyatta Bradley, Atlanta; Edwin Hankerson (Joy), New Jersey; Julius Mack Willis, Jr. (April), Smyrna; James Travis Willis, Atlanta; Harold Devaughn Hankerson, Jr., (Lazetta);   Stacey Hankerson Mathis (Tim), Fort Valley. (Mrs. Leola Hankerson’s husband, Lorenzo and two other sons, Edwin and Larry James preceded her in death.)

Great grandchildren: Timothy Joseph and Aaron James Hankerson (New Jersey); Simone Kristiana, Hailey Alexis and Harold Devaughn Hankerson, III, Marietta; Timberly Monique Mathis, Fort Valley; Jiselle Ruby Willis, Smyrna; Colton Aaron James Dyson, Mableton.

She truly cared deeply for her family and her many wonderful friends as well.
Mrs. Leola  Hankerson, “Bimmie" as she was affectionately called, will be truly missed by all who knew her

We are so sorry to hear about the death of your loved one . May you find comfort in knowing that Jehovah God will soon do away with sickness and death. Scriptures found at Revelation 21:3-4 and Isaiah 25:8 assures us of this promise. We will then have the opportunity to welcome back our dead loved ones from the grave (John 5:28-29) to a paradise earth with perfect health. Please find comfort in knowing this and know you are loved by many..
