Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia. The Reverend Dr. Allen Waters, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Repast will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Mr. Ball was born in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia to the late David Ball and Mary L. Walters Ball on July 16, 1930. He earned his education in the Macon County school system. He joined the membership of New Hope Baptist Church of Montezuma, Georgia at an early age. Mr. Ball worked for years as a forklift operator at C.E. Minerals – Mulcoa Division.
He was married to the late Arlee Cochran Ball. Their union was blessed with eleven children. Four children, David Ball, Eloise Felton, Reverend William Felton, and Ernest Cochran, preceded him in death. Also, five siblings, Mary Hicks, Rosa Harris, Mary Walters, Sampson Ball, and Bennie Ball, preceded him in death.
He leaves a legacy of love and memories to his children, Willie Felton, Montezuma, Georgia, Wayne Felton, Conyers, Georgia, Gilbert Ball, Sr., Carol Ball, Michael Ball (Rochelle), Kimala Ball, all of Montezuma, Georgia, and Yolanda Ball, Perry, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Mary Cochran, Oglethorpe, Georgia; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; four siblings, John Henry Ball, Macon, Georgia, Georgia Mae Johnson, Jonesboro, Georgia, Leila Walker, Macon, Georgia, and Thelma Gray, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frobelle Cochran (Becky Mae), Montezuma, Georgia; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
