The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Church Street, Andersonville, Georgia. Reverend Edward McKellar, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Freeman Hill Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.
Mrs. Clemons was born August 4, 1927 in Andersonville, Sumter County, Georgia to the late Bennie Hill and Nannie Lou Kennedy Hill. She was preceded in death by six siblings, J. D. Hill, Simmie Hill, Ben James Hill, Willie Edward Hill, Booker Hill and Thelma Bivins.
She was married to Cooper Webster Clemons, and to this union, they were blessed with three children. The family moved to New York where she joined Community Church of Astoria. She joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age. She was a 1948 graduate of Staley High School. After graduation, she journeyed to Durham, North Carolina to further her education by studying Cosmetology.
The family moved back to Andersonville in 1991, where she reconnected with her home church. She served on the Usher Board Ministry and also served as the Treasurer and as the Assistant Mother of Ebenezer.
Survivors are a beloved husband of sixty years, Cooper Webster Clemons, Andersonville, Georgia; three children, Lenoris Clemons, Nanzetta McKee (John) and Bernard Clemons all of Woodside, New York; ten grandchildren including one devoted, Kaseem Skinner, Andersonville, Georgia; Aarin Clemons, Jovon McKie, Jerell McKie, Jordan McKie, Jasmine Clemons, Nicole Porter, Tasha Porter, Jermaine McKie and John McKie, Jr.; nine great grandchildren, Khalil JaKarr McKie, Karina J. Skinner, Imani R. McKie, Kaiya McKie, Janneelle Inez Medina, Je-Rell A. McKie, Jr., Koralis Acevedo, Artie Porter and Reginal Porter; two siblings, Lorin Hill (Janet) Beaver, Pennsylvania and Berth Terry (Milton) Andersonville, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Earnestine Clemons, Fayetteville, Georgia, Lucile Clemons and Elouise Clemons both of Clear Water, Florida Daisy Clifton, Queens, New York, Rosa Mae Clemons, Americus, Georgia, and Beatrice Hill, Midland, Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
