Graveside services for Juanita Lumpkin Coates will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Juanita Lumpkin Coates was born August 23, 1954 in Oglethorpe, Georgia to Mrs. Susie Brown Lumpkin and the late Dallas Lumpkin. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County and was a 1972 graduate of the Historical D.F. Douglass High School.
She was employed with Southern Frozen Food Inc. for 38 years as a Lab Manager. She was employed by the Montezuma Healthcare Environmental Service in Montezuma for seven years.
She leaves to cherish her memories and continue her legacy: her two children, Michael Coates (Nicole), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Stacy Coates Brown (Nicholas) Perry, Georgia; sisters, Genieva Harmon (Clinton), Atlanta, Georgia, Shirley Lumpkin, Oglethorpe, Georgia; brother, Dallas Lumpkin Jr. (Velma) Oglethorpe, Georgia; aunts, Wedie Bell Stewart, Montezuma, Georgia. Vernistine Brown , Miami, Florida; grandchildren, Eric Haugabook II (Ywana) Fort Valley, Georgia, Tony Davis Jr., Meisha Coates (US Navy) Qwatarrius Smith, Jacksonville Florida; great grandchildren, Ja’Marion McHolmes, Paisley Davis; nieces, Linsey Hosley, Reneca Wynn; nephews, Marcus Lumpkin (Tammy), Rodney Lumpkin (Sadafrica); the class of 1972 D.F.
