The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Inspirational Church by Faith, 714 Alderton Street, Americus, Georgia, where Elder Larry T. Taylor is pastor. The remains will lay in state from 12:00 noon until the hour of service. Reverend Clinton Aldridge, Pastor of Springhill Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.
Johnnie B., affectionately called J.B. by some and Bay by others, was born in Sumter County to the late Jimmie Sapp and the late Mary Laine Sapp on July 24, 1937.
Johnnie B. was employed at Scott Bedding Company for several years where he was a staple man. He later worked at Cooper Lighting for more than 24 years as a paint attendant - a job he truly loved. Johnnie always met and greeted everyone with a warm smile and always had a lot to say.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dayna LaShunda Sapp Moore; two sisters, Mary J. Armour and Jessie B. Williams; and one brother, Homer Sapp.
He left a legacy of love and memories Thursday morning, March 2nd, 2017 to his wife and children. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Janice Roach Sapp; four children, Sherrie Y. Sapp Kleckley, Camilla, Georgia, Johnny B. Sapp, Jr., Navy Ret. Petty Officer First Class Kenneth E. Sapp (Donna Gayle), Americus Georgia, AF Ret. Senior Master Sergeant Gary D. Sapp (Yolanda), Dayton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, DeRenski T. Kleckley (Tabitha), Buford, Georgia, Damian T, Kleckley (Dianna), Columbus, Georgia, Renarda Sapp, Americus, Georgia, Jamila Pettiford (Victor), Hampton, Virginia, Brandon Sapp, Brendon Sapp, Bethany Sapp, Taylor Sapp, Elijah Sapp, and Matthew Sapp, Dayton, Ohio, Terrance Sapp, Charleston, South Carolina, Shanta Glover, Albany, Georgia, Keldrick Moore, Atlanta, Georgia, Jarred Moore, Americus, Georgia; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, James Merritt (Eula); one sister-in-law, Minnie Long, Riverdale, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Walter Long, Riverdale, Georgia; a devoted cousin, Joan Carson Bell; devoted nephew, John Henry Roach; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
