The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at New Bethel Baptist Church, Dooling, Georgia. Burial will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Church Road, Montezuma, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Joe Holmes Sr. was born November 9, 1963, in Dooly County, Georgia to Eloise Holmes. He was a graduate of the Historic D.F. Douglass High School. He worked at IMERYS Minerals of Andersonville, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife Carolyn Holmes, Oglethorpe, Georgia; children, Joe Holmes Jr. (Alexis), Montezuma, Georgia, Jeramie Holmes, Montezuma, Georgia, Worth Beaman, Ohio; grandchildren Camron Holmes, A’zahis Harrison, Destiny Beaman; a beloved mother, Eloise Holmes, Oglethorpe, Georgia; sister, Elizabeth Thomas; brother and sisters-in-law, Willie James, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Robert Clay, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Veronica Flournoy (Harvey), Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a devoted friends, Sandra Rice and Porsha.
