Jimmy Jerome McLendon, Sr.

Mr. Jimmy Jerome McLendon, Sr., age 60, passed away on Sunday, July 19,2015 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Shade Arnold Baptist Church, Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia, where Reverend George Porter, Jr. is pastor. The Reverend Colby McKenzie will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.

Jimmy Jerome McLendon was born October 3, 1954 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Mamie McLendon and the late Taylor Reese, Sr. He was preceded in death by six siblings: Tyrone Story, Ronald McLendon, Curtis Reese, Gloria Gaines, Anderson Reese, and Taylor Reese, Jr. 

Jimmy was educated in the public school system of Macon County where he was a 1972 graduate of the historic D.F. Douglass High School. He served his country faithfully in United States Army and was honorably discharged in November 1979. Jimmy was employed with Allens Inc. as a Foreman for over 40 years.

On September 29, 1976, Jimmy was joined in holy matrimony to the former Beverly Mckenzie, and to this union two children were born.  

He leaves a legacy of love and many wonderful memories to his family, which include a loving and devoted wife of thirty-eight years, Beverly McKenzie-McLendon, Montezuma, Georgia; his beloved children, Jimmy Jerome McLendon, Jr. (Jennifer Turner), Tiffany B. Mathis (Willie B., Jr.); three grandchildren, Keshun, Jalen, and Makayla;  four siblings, Debra Thomas, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Bernard McLendon, Dublin, Georgia, Keith C. McLendon (Patricia), Cynthia Mahone (Willie); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rasheeda Reese, Cathy Story, Gracie Joiner, John McKenzie, Coretha Davis (Willie), Barbara Marshall (Charlie), Shelia Warren (Roy), Belinda Woods, Reba Platt (Jerry), Benjamin McKenzie, Mary Waters (Ricky), Cassandra Jones (Kyle), Van McKenzie, Connie Walker (Willie), Gerald McKenzie (Tina); a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

To the McLendon Family I and sorry for your loss. I am so glad that I got the opportunity to meet him and get to know him. I never had an opportunity to tell him how thankful I am he accepted and love me and my daughter. My prayers are with you.
