The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 15, 2019 at Mt. Hope Baptist Church, Georgia Hwy 32, Lee County, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
James Wright was born on May 18, 1951 to the late Michael Charles Wright Sr. and Julia Lee Sailor. He was preceded in death by nine siblings, Willie Lee, Rosa, Lillie, John Ted, Sally, Maple, Michael Charles Jr., Tommy, and Barbara. He was educated through the public school system of Sumter County and received his certificate through Job Corps. Following Job Corps, he served in the Georgia National Guard. He was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Leesburg, Georgia. James was employed with Hickory Springs Trucking as a Truck Driver and after several years of dedicated services he retired. James enjoyed growing all types of vegetables and shared his harvest with the community. He was joined in holy matrimony to the former Ethel Lee Hollis.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted companion, Ethel Hollis Wright, Americus, Georgia; six children, Adrian Wight, Alicia Wright, both of Americus, Georgia, Amy Williams (Jerome), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Johnathan Wright, Americus, Georgia, Keshawn White, Americus, Georgia, and Quincy Wright, Montezuma, Georgia; eight grandchildren, De’ Shuntae, Miriah, Tedajah, Jamaya, Kabron, Ashton, Lamia, and India; siblings J.C. Wright, Leslie, Georgia, Harold Wright, Atlanta, Georgia, Sonnie Wright, and Nathaniel Wright, both of Americus, Georgia; half sister, Cathy King, Albany, Georgia; one aunt, Minnie Kate James, Leesburg, Georgia; a devoted sister-in- law, Betty Daniels, Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including two devoted nieces, Gwendolyn Cobb, Angela Banks (Doug), all of Americus, Georgia; devoted friends Eddie Biggins (Annie), Desoto, Georgia, and Ulysee Preston, Leslie, Georgia.
