James Redding, Sr. was born in Dooly County, Georgia December 21, 1948 to the late J. C. Turner and Callie Redding Jones. He was educated in the public school system of Dooly County and he received his Christian training in the local churches. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of believers at the Shady Grove Baptist Church of Drayton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Willie Redding and Bertha Jones. He was also preceded in death by two children, Katreca Redding and Tina Redding.
He was united in holy matrimony to the former Angela Denise Robinson December 12, 2001. On Thursday, June 30, 2011 the death angel sealed the lips of our beloved while convalescing at the Miona Geriatric and Dementia Center, Ideal, Georgia.
He leaves a legacy of love and memories to his beloved family, which include a loving and devoted wife of ten years, Angela Denise Redding, Oglethorpe, Georgia; four children, Tony Redding, Sr., Meridian, Mississippi, James Redding, Jr. (Demetrica), LaMennie Redding all of Montezuma, Georgia and Marcus Redding, Decatur, Georgia; three stepchildren, Sean Lamont Robinson, Marshallville, Georgia, Quinten Kentrelle Johnson and Marquis Dwayne Johnson both of Oglethorpe, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Calvin Goggins, Antron Redding, Tony Redding, Jr., Tina Redding, Amber Goggins, Jasmine Goggins, Justin Redding, Marcus Redding and Adrien Goggins; ten siblings, Jessie James (Lester), Mattie Jones (Morris), Bobbie Mason (Johnny), Betty Lockett (Timothy), Carrie Johnson, Sophia Porter, all of Cordele, Georgia, Bertha Mae Turner, Byromville, Georgia, Eli Jones (Elaine), Ruckersville, Virginia, Joe Jones and Willie Jones both of Cordele, Georgia; mother-in-law, Fannie Pearl Robinson Allen, Marshallville, Georgia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rose Walker (Charles), Melinda Taylor, and James Robinson all of Marshallville, Georgia, Mary Williams (Jimmy), Oglethorpe, Georgia and Frank Robinson, Greenwood, South Carolina; a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
