The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Friendship Baptist Church, 564 Highway 195 N, Leslie, Georgia. Burial Cemetery Counsel Cemetery, DeSoto, Georgia.
Jake Reese Sr. was born September 2, 1930 in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Duree Reese and Florence Vance. He was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. At an early age he confessed Christ as his personal Savior and joined New Zion Baptist Church, Cobb, Georgia.
Jake's early work experience started at Ed Faircloth Farm and Charles Wheatly Construction. Later on in life, he had a change in career paths. He became a custodian in food services with the Sumter County School System and after ten years of dedicated services he retired.
In 1953 Jake Reese was united in holy matrimony to the late Lessie Biggins; to this union, they were blessed to rear ten children. He was preceded by in death by one grandson, Jeremy Sims; a great grandson, Fabian Drew; and four siblings, Elmott Vance, David Vance, Leola Nottage and Jennie Jackson. His family and community will long remember Jake as a loving father, grandfather, friend and a great handyman who worked diligently on wash machines.
He leaves to cherish his memories: ten children, Eddie Biggins (Annie), Jake Reese Jr. (Mary) all of Desoto, Georgia, Betty Rivers (Major), Leesburg, Georgia, Jimmy Reese (Nancy), Leslie, Georgia, Robert Reese (Vanessa Hubbard), Americus, Georgia, David Reese (Tanya), Leesburg, Georgia, Susie Kearse (Jehovah) Severn, Maryland, Rosemary Sims (Jerome), Desoto, Georgia, Tommy Reese (Sandra) Americus, Georgia, Tawanna Reese (Dontae Monts), Plains, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren including two devoted grandchildren who spent time with him daily, Aundrey Rivers (Kimberly), Leesburg, Georgia and Erik Reese (Ericka) Desoto, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; one sister, Aggie Mae Williams, Detroit, Michigan; a goddaughter Diana Mercer (Freddie) Leslie, Georgia, a godson, Minister Kelvin Lundy, Albany, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including four devoted nieces Willie Biggins, Desoto, Georgia, Merlene Faulk, Warner Robins, Georgia, Jackie King (Calvin), Americus, Georgia, Mary Hunt, Plains, Georgia; and devoted friends Geraldine Cherry, Leslie, Georgia, Bertha Battle, Plains, Georgia, Bertha Floyd, Americus, Georgia, Neil Harris, Americus, Georgia, Linda Prince, Americus, Georgia, Ernest Nelson, Desoto, Georgia, and Elizabeth Waters, Cobb Georgia.
