
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M, Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant/ Travelers Rest C.M.E. Church, 315 Norris Street, Montezuma, Georgia. The Reverend Sidney Kendrick, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Whiteline Street, Montezuma, Georgia.
Mr. Jackie Story Sr. was born October 3, 1951 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Walter Ben Story Sr. and Obelia Jordan Story. He acquired his education in the public school system of Macon County and was a 1969 graduate of the historical D. F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. Jackie accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant/Traveler Rest C.M.E. Church in Montezuma, Georgia, where he served as an Usher for many years. As a child, he was an active member of the Hawkins Hill Boys Club and as an adult he enjoyed volunteering at the local soup kitchen making deliveries.
,Jackie was united in holy matrimony the former Burnell Loftly and to this union three children, were born. After many dedicated years of working in sanitation, he retired from Allen’s Frozen Food Company in Montezuma, Georgia. Following retirement, Jackie continued to work with City of Montezuma and then the City of Americus TransWaste Company as a Sanitation Worker. He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Story.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Burnell Story, Montezuma, Georgia; three children, Jackie Story Jr. (Laquilla Gibson), Dontay Story, and Brittany Ann Story, all of Montezuma, Georgia; one grandson Kamarion Story, Montezuma, Georgia; six siblings and their spouses, James Greene, Montezuma, Georgia, Sonny Sneed, Akron, Ohio, Walter Ben Story Jr., Richard (Gloria) Story, all of Montezuma, Georgia, Wanda (Emmitt) Mathis, Houston, Texas, and Marshell (Jeffery) Canady, Montezuma, Georgia; four sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lounell (Leonard) Rackley, Mary Ellen Covington, Edward Loftly, and Boisey Loftly (Bessie), all of Montezuma, Georgia; 23 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives, including a devoted friend, Custer Tookes of Montezuma, Georgia.
