Isaiah James, age 89, passed on March 31, 2023, at Piedmont Healthcare of Newnan, Georgia.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Evans Chapel C.M.E. Church Cemetery, County Road #152, Preston, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Isaiah was born on May 18, 1933 in Preston, Georgia to the late Nathree Crawford James Statham and the late Oscar R. James. He was preceded in death by several siblings. He was educated in the public school system Marion County. He was a member of Thompson Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He was employed with Genuine Parts of Atlanta, Georgia. Isaiah was joined in holy matrimony to the late Molly Mae Dowdell.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his brother John Wesley James (Altamese), Miami, Florida, sister Annie B. Statham, Buena Vista, Georgia; nieces and nephews Lula James, Annie James Wright, Mathew James, Fannie Murray (Otis) and Eddierene Prather (Willie) all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Mary Cooper (Tyrone) Augusta, Georgia, Mamie Sanders, Vernon Sanders (Tameka), Talithia Sanders, Frank James, Jr. (Betty), Moses James, Benji Sanders, Henry Johnson Jr, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, and Beretha Brown , Columbus, Georgia, Lester Scott, Fitzgerald, Georgia, Tawanda Everett, Melvin Everett, Miami, Florida ; devoted great niece Monica Sanders, Buena Vista, Georgia; sisters/ brother in law Marilyn J. Harris, Opelika, Alabama, Bernard (Cynthia) Dowdell devoted friend Quilliam Barber Jr., Sargent, Georgia ;. a host of other loving great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
