Graveside services are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Mother Ilene Brooks Nelson, age 96, Brooks Rd., Ideal, Georgia passed Saturday, February 6, 2021 in the surrounding of her beloved family.
Mother Nelson was born April 1, 1924 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Forrest Brooks and the late Mattie Bell Turner Brooks. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County, whereas she attended the historic Pinehill C.M.E. Church School. At an early age she joined the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member of the Church choir and a member of the Mount Sinai Usher Board Ministry. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Elzie Nelson who passed in 2009. After many years of service she retired as a CNA from the Ideal Nursing Home of Ideal, Georgia.
She leaves a legacy of love and many fond memories to her beloved family which include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Willie Glenn Brooks of Charleston, South Carolina and Willie Simmons (Willie Jean), Oglethorpe, Georgia; brother-n-law and sister-in-law, J. C. Nelson (Bessie Lue), Ideal, Georgia; and a host of beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives.
