The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 13, 2012 at Shade Arnold Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery at 12:30 P.M.
Henry Scott, Jr. was born November 18, 1951 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Henry Scott, Sr. and Jessie Bell Lowe Scott. He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Jean Scott. At an early age, he joined the Shade Arnold Baptist Church. He was affectionately called “Bob” by family and friends. He was a 1970 graduate of D. F. Douglass High School. He was inducted into the U. S. Army on May 20, 1974 and was honorably discharged on October 5, 1976. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
Upon leaving the Army, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where he worked in the construction industry for 10 years until he decided to work for himself. He attended Greater New Hope Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia. From there, he was the “Great Mechanic” for family and friends. This was an occupation he enjoyed doing until his health failed.
Those left to cherish his memories are two children, Lakeita Renea Golphin (Stanley, Sr.), Oglethorpe, Georgia and a devoted son, Bobby Scott, Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Stanley Golphin, Jr., Christopher Golphin, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia and Kiyonna Hancock, Atlanta, Georgia; ten siblings, Bernice Latson, Detroit, Michigan, Lawrence Latson, Rosetta Bullock, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Mary Louise Little (Jerry), Fort Valley, Georgia, Carlton Scott, Warner Robins, Georgia, Marilyn Kirkland (Joe), Atlanta, Georgia, Carolyn Barnes (Larry) Indianapolis, Indiana, Billy Roy Scott, Detroit, Michigan and Marie James (Larry), Atlanta, Georgia; three loving aunts, Rose Mitchell, Hartford, Connecticut, Louise Lowe, Perry, Georgia and Elene Lowe, Montezuma, Georgia; twenty-two loving nieces and nephews; twenty-seven great nieces and nephews; a host of beloved other relatives and friends.
