The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest C.M.E. Church, 315 Norris Street, Montezuma, Georgia. The Reverend Sidney Kendrick, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery Rostrum, Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.
Mrs. Roberts was born July 6, 1950 to the late Hartwell Spivey and Eula Mae Neal Davis. She was preceded in death by three siblings, T’ Russell Spivey, Clarence Davis, and Betty Spivey.
She was educated in the public school system of Macon and Dooly Counties. She graduated in 1968 from the historic D.F. Douglas High. She later joined Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest Christian Methodist Church, where she served faithfully on the Stewardess Board Ministry, Choir member, Missionary Auxiliary Board, and Ministry in song and words of inspiration to the Nursing Home patients. During her lifetime with her husband she traveled abroad the world and bored her first son in the Philippines.
She was united in Holy matrimony on May 20, 1977. She leaves to cherish her loving memories after 37 years of love and devotion her husband, Willie “Rob” Roberts, Montezuma, Georgia; three children, Tawanda Davis Johnson (Fred), Perry, Georgia, Kyle Roberts (his friend, Verna Tuff) Montezuma, Georgia, and Kendra Roberts, Montezuma, Georgia; four grandchildren Sametria Rogers, Samuel Rogers, and Jeonee Rogers, Zereouna Wiggins; three great-grands Zha’Kurrius Johnson, Kha’liyah Rogers, and Brielle Frasier; siblings, Eva Brown, Bowie, Maryland, Carrie Davis, Newark, New Jersey, Willie Davis (Caretha), Atlanta, Georgia, J.B. Davis (Coretta), Jacksonville, Florida; grandmother, Beatrice Roberts, Montezuma, Georgia; father–in-law, John Tookes (Bessie), Montezuma, Georgia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Brenda Ellis, Garry Roberts (Jacky), Alfonzo Roberts, Helen Journey Walters (Johnny), Phillip Journey, all of Montezuma, Georgia Edmond Journey, Macon, Georgia, Cynthia Dunlap (Sylvester), Pine Mountain, Georgia, John Tookes Jr., Savannah, Georgia, Cussetta Journey, Bobby Journey, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Charlie Journey, Albany, Georgia, Joseph Journey (Lawanda), Fort Valley, Georgia, Quincey (Tiffany), Fort Riley, Kansas; a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
