Gwinne Sudecker Clay, age 59, 3430 Georgia Highway 49 South, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Phoebe Putney North Hospital, Albany, Georgia.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 1, 2021 at Bertha Dozier Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia.  Brother Bobby Smith and Mathis Wright will officiate.

Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates at all services at this time. We are limiting graveside seating to no more than 10 with masks being strongly encouraged. Other masked attendees are welcomed but will be expected to practice social distancing.

Graveside services are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.​

​Gwinne was born January 22, 1962 in Anderson, Indiana to Susie Davis Clay and Robert R.T. Clay.  He was preceded in death by five siblings Robert Clay, Clark Wayne Clay, Renee Milton, Valerie Clay, and Delphia Clay.  He was a 1982 graduate of Highland High School of Anderson, Indiana.  He continued his education at Notre Dame University, South Bend, Indiana and later he attended Albany Technical College, Albany, Georgia for CDL and an Electrical certification at South Georgia Technical College, Americus, Georgia. 

He was a member of Montezuma Church of Christ of Montezuma, Georgia.  He was employed McCormick Trucking, Inc. as a tractor trailer driver.  His community affiliation includes NAACP Americus Chapter and the Masonic Lodge, Montezuma, Georgia. 

He was united in holy matrimony to Monica Jackson and to this union they were blessed with three daughters. 

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 27 years, Monica Jackson Clay, Oglethorpe, Georgia; children, Amelia Hall, Atlanta, Georgia, Deja Clay, Nashville, Tennessee, Diamond Clay, Las Vegas, Nevada, Myeshia Lloyd (Michael) and Charron Carter both of Anderson, Indiana, and Pereisha Oliver, Alabama; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; siblings Francene Clay and Travis Clay both of Anderson, Indiana; and in laws: Sam Milton of Anderson, Indiana, Bernice Jackson, Gwendolyn Jackson, Millie Johnson, Mildred Murray, Beatrice Hall (Jesse), Carl Jackson (Sharon), all of Detroit, Michigan, Julia Synagogue (Glenn) of California; host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
