Gloria Porter Alridge

Gloria Porter Alridge, age 58, 356 Geneva Road, Buena Vista, Georgia passed Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Mid-Town Hospital, Columbus, Georgia.  

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Moody Road, Tazewell, Georgia.  The Reverend Joe Oglesby, pastor, will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.

Mrs. Alridge was born May 29, 1955 in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia to Ella Pearl Ramsey and Jimmy Lee Johnson.  She was a 1973 graduate of Buena Vista High School.  She was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board Ministry and was a former member of the Church choir.  She retired from the Marion County Board of Education as a bus driver.

Survivors included a loving and devoted husband of forty-one years, Judson Alridge, Buena Vista, Georgia; three children, Veronica Alridge (her friend, Timothy) Columbus, Georgia, Fredrick Alridge (his friend, Jameia), Richland, Georgia and Marcus Alridge (his friend, Rachael), Columbus, Georgia; grandchildren, Demarion, Alasia, Jordyn, Lashae, Breshae and Dionne; her parents, Ella Pearl Ramsey, Jacksonville, Florida and Jimmy Lee Johnson, Orlando, Florida; her stepchildren include, Vinson Alridge, Americus, Georgia, and Fredrick Alridge, Ellaville, Georgia and several step-grandchildren;  five siblings and their spouses, Isabelle (Alvin) Harvey,  Leroy (Kathy) Ramsey, Carolyn (Elliott) Ansley, Janice Ramsey, and Lester Ramsey, all of Jacksonville, Florida. Her uncles and aunts include Harrison Porter, Alma (Moses) Ross, Louise Tennyson, all of Buena Vista, Georgia,  Nancy Porter, Jacksonville, Florida,  Jimmy (Ella Mae) Porter, Irene  (Milton) Minter, Lois Alridge, all of Buena Vista, Georgia, Mary Fudge, Hartford, Connecticut and Michael Alridge, Atlanta, Georgia;  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael (Carolyn) Alridge, Ellaville, Georgia, Gail Alridge and Susie (Joseph) Gardner all of Buena Vista, Georgia and Linda Davison, Warner Robins, Georgia; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
