Mr. George Brown, age 81, 201 Jordan St., Oglethorpe, Georgia passed Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Heart of Georgia Hospice, Perry, Georgia.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia. The Reverend Coley Clark, Jr., pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia will officiate.
Mr. George Brown was born May 2, 1933 to the late Lucious Brown and Annie Carson Brown in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County, Georgia. One son, Kenneth Brown preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, James Brown and William “Doc” Brown, Sr. After many dedicated years of service, he retired as a farmer.
He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Joyce Lowe (Kelvin), Oglethorpe, Georgia and Helen Thomas (Joe), Oglethorpe, Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Lillie Thornton Brown, Montezuma, Georgia; grandchildren, Kenbretta Brown, Katajia Brown, both of Montezuma, Georgia, Cortez Lowe, Ebony Lowe, both of Kathleen, Georgia, Vanessa Thomas, Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Shevella Rump (Alger), Warner Robins, Georgia; eight loving great grandchildren; six siblings, Susie Lumpkin, Montezuma, Georgia, Minnie Lee Washington, Marshallville, Georgia, Vernestine Brown, Miami, Florida, Wedie Bell Stewart, Montezuma, Georgia, Annie Pearl Leary, Atlanta, Georgia and Johnny “J.B.” Brown, Oglethorpe, Georgia; a host of nieces, including a special devoted niece, Patricia Stewart, nephews, other relatives and friends.
