
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Lula Chapel Primitive Baptist Church located on Georgia HWY 26 West in Oglethorpe, Georgia. Elder James Lyles, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in the Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
Geneva was born September 28, 1939 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Albert Thomas and Carrie Bell Tookes Thomas. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County and was a graduate of D.F. Douglas High School, Montezuma, Georgia. She was united in Holy matrimony to Eddie Welbon, Sr. To this union two children were born. In 1994, she joined the Christian Believers at Lula Chapel Primitive Baptist church where she was a faithful and dedicated member throughout her life. Geneva retired from the United Postal Service in Haywood, California. She loved to garden, nursing and foster caring to children. She was preceded in death by five siblings Henry D. Thomas, Louise Thomas Fulks, Willie Gene Thomas, Enoch Elijah Thomas, Bernistine Thomas Hudson.
Survivors included her children, Eddie Welbon, Jr., and Jamie Welbon of Haywood, California; grandchildren Eddie Welbon III, Leona Welbon, Eddie Welbon IV, Sabrina Welbon all of Haywood California; step grand Imani Harrison, Haywood, California; siblings Eddie Will Thomas, Sr. (Annie Claude), Oglethorpe, Georgia, Armour Jean Smith (Thurman Smith, Sr.), Duxbury, Massachusetts, Evelyn Thomas, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Annie B. Fagan, Monterey, California, Albert Thomas Jr., Boston Massachusetts, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a devoted friend Calvin.
