Mrs. Flora Waymon, age 93, passed on July 18, 2018 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 260 W Allen Street, Leslie, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

A TIME TO BE BORN: I, MRS. FLORA LEWIS WAYMON, was born in Dooly County, Georgia, on January 7, 1925, to the parentage of the late Mr. Abe and Mrs. Willie Clark Lewis.  Preceding my death were my parents, my two brothers, A. W. and Eugene Lewis, my oldest son Albert Waymon, Jr., and my loving husband Deacon Albert Waymon, Sr.

A TIME TO PLANT: I attended Nunn Industrial Elementary School in Sumter County and graduated from A. S. Staley High School in Americus, Georgia, in 1943, under the principal of Mr. J. C. Reese.

A TIME TO BUILD: I joined the Perry Grove Baptist Church, Leslie, Georgia, and was baptized as a twelve year old under the pastorate of Rev. B. J. Drummer.  My various positions there included serving on the Ushers Board, President of the Mission Board, and Church Reporter.  In 1968 I joined my husband and transferred my membership to Zion Hill Baptist Church, Leslie, Georgia.  My service at Zion Hill included Vice-President of the Mission Board, President of the Deaconess Board, kindergarten Sunday School Teacher, and Church Reporter.  My most honored position was serving as Church Mother for the last approximately fifteen years.

I was widely known in this area for my Christian literary poems and papers which I authored and supplied for numerous programs throughout the community, including churches, wedding anniversaries, and birthdays.  I was told that I was an outstanding speaker on countless church programs throughout my adult life.  When I became physically unable to stand and speak for the Lord, I would sit in my wheelchair and recite or read my inspirational poems and papers.  I was an encourager and a true servant of God.

A TIME TO LOVE: On January 8, 1944, I was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Albert Waymon, who was called from labor to reward on March 10, 2001, after 57 years of marriage.  Our marriage was blessed with 11 children.

A TIME TO DIE: One of my favorite sayings was “I’ll be glad to hear my Savior call my name.”  In the afternoon hours of Wednesday, July 18, 2018, I responded to that call and peacefully transitioned into the loving arms of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A TIME TO CELEBRATE: Keep me close in your hearts and celebrate my life by reminiscing on my writings, speaking, and the humor that I imparted in your life.  I am now at peace and rest in my mansion in the sky.  I leave to cherish my memories my seven sons:  Charles Waymon, Americus; Euriah Waymon, Atlanta; David (Lucille) Waymon, Jacksonville, FL; Kelvin Jerome (Jeep) (Bobbie Jean) Waymon, Aliquippa, PA; Michael Leon Waymon, Atlanta; Ronnie James (Bertha) Waymon, Americus; and Kenneth Dwayne Waymon, Atlanta. My three daughters:  Rev. Lodenia Waymon Coleman (Rev. Robert) and Florence (Flo) Waymon, Americus; and Gwendolyn Elaine Waymon, Atlanta; 24 grandchildren, 55 great children, 5 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews including Minister Patricia Smith, Albany, Rev. W. R. Waymon, Atlanta, and Elder Billy Baldwin, Macon, GA; my cousins Mary King and Martha Harris of Vienna, Evangelist B. Snipes, Doris Sims, and Eupha Mae Green all of Americus, GA.

Special friends include Mary Green Barner, Willie Mae James and Clara Bell Thomas; God-sister Mildred Sneed, God-daughter Daphne James Lembrick, and caregivers Janay Bagby, Eula Merritt and Linda Kleckley, among others .

Sincere condolences to the Waymon family. We all will certainly miss Sister Waymon. She touched our lives with both wisdom and laughter. Life can never be the same again when someone we love is gone. But God's promises can and will bring hope and comfort. May HIS Word uphold you all during this season.

To the family of Mrs. Waymon, I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one in death can grieve the heart and really make us yearn for the day when Jehovah God will keep the promise he made at Revelation 21:3,4, Isaiah 25:8,9 and 1 Corinthians 15:26. May you find comfort in the God who comforts us all during this most difficult time. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4

Waymon Family : Sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in God's Word the bible. Jehovah God never intended for mankind to suffer the pain of death. Jehovah is going to swallow up death forever. What a wonderful future hope. Please take comfort in Jesus words at John 5:28.29, that there will be a resurrection of our loved ones. Look forward to the fulfillment of Revelation 21:3,4 and be assured that Jehovah will comfort you and your family during this most difficult time.
