Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Graveside services, including burials, are likely to be held on ground that is uneven, which is out of the control of Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. We ask that you take this into consideration when choosing footwear, such as shoes with high, thin heels. Please be advised that Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc. will not be held responsible for injuries at a grave site because of this.
Ernest Harp Jr. was born September 26, 1943, to the late Ernest Harp Sr. and Della Mae Smith Harp. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County whereas he attended the historic Oglethorpe Grammar School. He was united in holy matrimony to Hazel Williams and to this union 7 children were born. Two daughters, Stephanie Harp Hillmon and Gwenda Harp Fredrick, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, KaToshara Hillmon, and two siblings, Bertha Williams and Willie James Harp.
He was employed with Reid Construction Company of Americus, Georgia and Mulcoa of Andersonville, Georgia where he retired after 30 or more years as a front end loader.
He leaves to cherish his memories five children Cynthia Harp (Willie), Montezuma, Georgia, Ernest B. Harp of Andersonville, Georgia, Stanford Harp (Debra), Perry, Georgia, Charles Harp (Linda), Shelia Harp Allen (Reginald) all of Montezuma, Georgia; grandchildren, DeCarris Hillmon, Shavia Towns, Trinesia Harp, Martellian Harp, Tarrance Holley, DeKameron Allen, Desi McKenzie, Sherrod Terry, and Sharvin Sims; siblings Ardean Harp Clark, Eddie Harp, Virginia Whitehead (Phil) all of Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Willie B. Harp (Mildred), Montezuma, Georgia; goddaughter, Sheila Kaigler (Sanford); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a close friend Anthony Williams .
