The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Monday, December 19, 2011 at Wilber Hall A.M.E. Church, Georgia Highway 128, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Interment will follow in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery, Hicks District, Reynolds, Georgia. The Rev. Coley Clark, Jr. will officiate.
Emmit was born in Macon County, Georgia January 12, 1940 to the late Walter Manson and Lovie Ruth Gouch Manson. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. After high school he moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where he work as a machinist at Wiremold Manfactory. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1976. In 1981 he became employed Boyle Midway Chemical Plant as a machine operator. Later he became employed Zep Manfactory where he retired as a machinist. He was married to Rosa Manson and this union was blessed with four children. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, he met and married the former Lizzie Knott and to this union they were blessed with four children.
Survivors are his wife, Lizzie K. Manson, Ellenwood, Georgia; children, Sherrill (Michael) Baskin, New York, Reginald Manson, Ellenwood, Georgia, Wayne Knott, Ellenwood, Georgia, Rachael (Alphonso) Arnold, Peachtree City, Georgia, Keith Knott, Ellenwood, Georgia, Karen Knott, Ellenwood, Georgia, Abigail (Earnest) Boyd, Kennesaw, Georgia and Corey Knott Ellenwood, Georgia; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother-in-law, Joe (Nellie) Ivory, Birmingham, Alabama; sister-in-law, Lillian Manson, Texas; siblings, Carrion “Calvin” (Carmen) Manson, Perry, Georgia, Albert (Mildred) Manson, Atlanta, Georgia, Lizzie B. Manson (Parnell) Lee, Cromwell, Connecticut, Richard (Geraldine) Manson, Decatur, Georgia, Samuel Manson, Atlanta, Georgia, Burnette (James) Waye, Lilburn, Georgia, Luther (Renee) Mansona, Fort Valley, Georgia, Wanda (Gregg) Oliver, Americus, Georgia, Henry Manson, Decatur, Georgia, and Latonia (Earl, Jr.) Hooks, Marshallville, Georgia; three aunts, Johnnie Mae Mack, Hartford, Connecticut and Willie Bell Gouch, Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
