
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Big Bethel Baptist Church, 1330 North Jackson Street, Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Ashby Street, Americus, Georgia.
Emma Williams was born June 9, 1936 in Americus, Georgia to the late Marie McCray and John Brown. She was reared by her beloved paternal aunt, the late Irene Brown, and her family. She was educated in the Sumter County public school system where she graduated from the historic Staley High School, Americus, Georgia. She later went on to receive her certification as a paraprofessional. She worked as a Paraprofessional at Northeast Elementary and Central Jr. High Schools in Americus, Georgia until she retired. Following retirement she became a caregiver for the late Ethel Mae Jones Banks whom she loved like a mother. She also was a caregiver for many elders in Sumter County either in their homes or at Sumter Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Big Bethel Baptist Church of Americus, Georgia. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Samuel Williams Sr. and to this union they were blessed with five sons. One son, Joel Williams, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, George Turner.
She leaves to cherish her memories: four children, Alvin B. Williams, Samuel Williams Jr. (Jacqueline), Stacey Williams, all of Americus, Georgia, Pastor Eric Williams (Gigi) Life More Abundantly Island Church in Wahiawa, Hawaii; 8 grandchildren; three siblings, Jeanette Jenkins, Columbia, Maryland, John M. Jenkins, Hinesville, Georgia, Elaine Brown, Savannah, Georgia; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
