The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Travelers Home Missionary Baptist Church, Travelers Home Road, Ideal, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery.
Emma was born on October 1, 1958 in Ideal, Georgia to the late James Cook and Emma Jo Raines Cook. She was preceded in death by her one and only child, Anthony Bernard Cook. She was reared by two loving and caring aunts, Willie Faye Raines and Nancy Bivins. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined Travelers Home Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member and on the Missionary Ministry. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County where she attended the historic Ideal Elementary School and graduated for the historic D.F. Douglas High School in 1976. Emma was employed at Southern Frozen Food for a short period of time. She went on to work as a CNA at the former Ideal/Miona Nursing Home for over 20 years until health began to fail.
Emma was a sweet, gentle soul. She leaves to cherish her memories: four siblings, Brenda Jo Cook, Barbara Lee Lyles (Charles), all of Ideal, Georgia, Annie Grace Cook (Wayne), Reynolds, Georgia, and Joseph Chester Cook, Ideal, Georgia; two nephews, Quentin Cottle Sr. (Debbie), Jamie Lynn Cottle; five great nephews and nieces, Quentin Cottle Jr., Braylon Zaire Golden, Michah Aden Cottle, Hannah Meon Cottle, and Cassietta Janaiya Cottle; two devoted aunts, Elouise Raines and Ilene Raines; a devoted friend, Barbara Ann Harpe; host of other relatives and friends.
