The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Elder Robert Taylor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Oglethorpe, Georgia will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hopewell Independent Church Cemetery, Brooks Road, Rupert, Macon County, Georgia.
Elbert, better known as “Boot,” was born February 16, 1934 in Macon County Georgia to the parentage of the late John Thomas Walker and Essie Bell Harmon Walker. Elbert was educated at the Flint River Farms High School. He retired from Sears & Roebuck Department Store, where he worked in the receiving department for many years.
Survivors are his wife, Leola Taylor Walker, Atlanta, Georgia; four children, Vickie Smith, Mableton, Georgia, Eddie Walker, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Chanel Walker, Atlanta, Georgia, and Elbert Walker, Leesburg, Georgia; five grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
