The wake service will be held from 7:00 - 8:00 P.M., Friday, January 9, 2015 at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church, GA HWY 240, Ellaville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Reverend Coley Clark, Jr. will officiate.
Sister Edith Mae Brooks was born March 6, 1914 in Schley County, Georgia to the late Charlie Tookes and Verdie Lee Fulks. She was the widow of the late Ray Brooks. She was blessed to be the mother of four children, three preceded her in death: Mary Bell Brooks, Mary Edith Brooks and Lewis Junior Brooks.
Being reared up in the Primitive Baptist’s faith she learned early in life her path of duty. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church where she has served faithfully over sixty years. She served faithfully on the committee and supported every facet of the church she loved so well. For many years Edith work for the Ideal Nursing Home and a Nursing Aide and a Domestic HouseKeeper for local families.
She leaves to morn: one daughter, Mrs Barbara Jackson, Ellaville, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren forty-eight great grandchildren; thirty-eight great- great grand; one great great great gradchild; three siblings, Verdie Fulks, Willie James Fulks both of Ellaville, Georgia and Talmadge Fulks, Cordele, Georgia; two step-sisters, Christine Fulks Mitchell and Mary Alice Miller both of Ellaville, Georgia and one step brother, Bobby Fulks, Ideal, Georgia; one daughter-in-law Mary Brooks, Buena Vista, Georgia; one Sister in-law Lucy Kate Bass, Atlanta, Georgia; and host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
