The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 11, 2017 at William Grove Baptist Church, Ellaville, Georgia where Reverend Michael B. Edge is Pastor and Reverend Coley Clark, Jr., pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia, will officiate. Interment will follow 12:00 Noon, Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, Georgia.
Eddie Rogers, Sr. was born May 26, 1948 to the late Charlie L. Rogers, Sr., and the late Ida Bell Turner Rogers in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia. He was educated in the public school system of Schley County. He graduated from John Lewis High School in 1967. Two siblings, Charlie L. Rogers, Jr. and Roy Rogers, Sr., preceded him in death.
At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Rupert, Georgia. He was a faithful and dedicated member where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Eddie began his post-military employment at the General Motors Company and later opened his own home improvement business, QHI Company. Eddie was passionate about the Lord and was a prolific writer. He enjoyed sharing spiritual teachings in his poems, short stories and a self-published book entitled The Richest Family in the World: Family Secrets.
On September 15, 1968 he was united in holy matrimony to the former Delois Hicks Rogers. To this union they were blessed with two children.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Delois Rogers, Marietta, Georgia; two children, Eddie D. Rogers, Jr., Marietta, Georgia, and Candy Prosper (Danny), Marietta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jada Rogers, Decatur, Georgia and Leila Prosper, Marietta, Georgia; eleven siblings and their spouses, Turner Rogers (Sandra) Hampton, Georgia, Stella Taylor, Rupert, Georgia, Michael Rogers, Ellaville, Georgia, Steve Rogers, Atlanta, Georgia, Barbara Haynes, Joann Murray, Vivian Lawson (Emmett), Janice Cottle (Donald), all of Ellaville, Georgia, Elaine Fudge (Tracy), Acworth, Georgia, Willie Rogers, Athens, Georgia, Charlie Rogers, IV (Tania), Kennesaw, Georgia, and Mary Rogers, Columbus, Georgia; aunts and uncles, Lucy Kat Hosley, Atlanta, Georgia, Paul A. Turner (Edna Ruth), Atlanta, Georgia, and Alma Harris, Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
