Earnest Lee Nelson

​Earnest Lee Nelson, age 70, 177 Holly Ave, Leslie, Georgia passed Monday, July 20, 2020 at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 24, 2020 at Sue Walker Cemetery, Buck Nelson Road,  DeSoto, Georgia.

Please be mindful that we will adhere to all government recommendations and mandates to limit the number of attendees at all services at this time. We are limiting the number of attendees to no more than 10 at the funeral home chapel services and graveside services. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.

Earnest Lee Nelson was born December 5, 1949 in DeSoto, Georgia to the late Anderson Ross and the late Maple Robinson Nelson Ross. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Eph and Alpine Nelson, Georgia Robinson and Abe Hayes; two sisters, Daisy Ross and Mary Ross Morns; and his niece, Nikish Morns George. He acquired his education in the public school system of Sumter County. In 1969 he graduated from Sumter County High School in Americus, Georgia.  Earnest accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at New Beulah Baptist Church at an early age.  He was a member of the Usher Board.

He was employed at Cooper Lighting for over 40 years and received a plaque for not missing a day of work; he worked until his health failed. He enjoyed sports and loved his family and friends.

Earnest departed this earthly life for an eternal life on Monday, July 20, 2020.

A precious one from us is gone; a voice we love is still, a place vacant in our hearts that can never be filled.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his four sisters, Lucille Holley (Curtis), Belle Glade, Florida, Rosie Etta Vance (Bobby), DeSoto, Georgia, Patricia Crawford (Duane), DeSoto, Georgia, Shirley Walton (Lee), Americus, Georgia; two brothers, Andrew Ross, Alexandria, Virginia, and Curtis Ross, Alamo, Georgia; four nieces, Shemekia Felton (Johnthan), Americus, Georgia, Nikki Crawford, Americus, Georgia, Latoya Holley, West Palm Beach, Florida, Myia Crawford, Americus, Georgia; seven nephews, Curtis Holley, Jr (Chandra), Belle Glade, Florida, Lee Walton Jr., (D-Andra), Atlanta, Georgia, Bobby Vance Jr., Americus, Georgia, DeAndre Holley, Belle Glade, Florida, JeRosski Walton, Americus, Georgia, Deython Walton, Valdosta, Georgia, Duane Crawford Jr., Americus, Georgia; nineteen great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, including his devoted friends the Brown Family.
