Earnest Jerome Taylor, age 54, of Phoenix, Arizona passed Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Andersonville National Cemetery Rostrum, Cemetery Drive, Andersonville, Georgia. Rev. Edward McKellar, pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Andersonville, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors.
Earnest Jerome Taylor was born February 16, 1958 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia to the late A.C. Taylor and Susie Williamson Taylor. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church of Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was a 1976 graduate of D.F. Douglass High School. In 1976, he also enlisted in the U.S. Army. After many years of dutiful service, he was honorably discharged. He settled in Phoenix, Arizona and worked as a tractor-trailer driver.
Survivors include three children, Olivia Taylor, Columbus, Georgia, Earnie Taylor, and Victoria Taylor, both of Phoenix, Arizona; siblings, Loretta Johnson, Charlie Taylor, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Arthur Taylor (Mary), Warren, Michigan, Edward Taylor (Rochelle), Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Gwendolyn Rumph (George), Fort Valley, Georgia, Carolyn Williams (Don), Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Randy Taylor (Carolyn), Fort Valley, Georgia; aunt, Catherine Melvin, Andersonville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including devoted friends, Benny Fisher, Joe Smith, and Lee Roy Harris.
