Sunrise
July 25, 1962 was an awesome day for the late Bernice Hunter Daniel and G. B. Daniel in Atlanta, Georgia.  God blessed them with Bernice’s first child, Derrick Ricardo Daniel.  Although he has other siblings, he and his brother, Steven, were reared together.

Day Light
Derrick spent his early years in Atlanta, Georgia. After the passing of his mother--when he was 14 years of age, he was reared by his Uncle & Aunt (Willie & Fannie Hunter) in Atlanta.  Derrick graduated from Walter F. George High School, Atlanta, Georgia.  After which time, he resided for a period of time with his Grandmother, Minnie Jewel Hunter, in Macon Georgia. Derrick relocated to Tavares, Florida and has been in the Tavares/Eustis areas for some time. Derrick never married; however, he had a very special friend, the late Tracy Moore.   He assisted in raising Trevon “Tre” Stanley, as his son.  Since Derrick was disabled, he was never employed; however, he fulfilled many requests by making CD’s, recording music, taking photos, and being a vivid communicator.

Derrick's hobbies included art (drawing), listening to music, baseball, playing card games, making greeting cards, and checking on family members, friends, the elderly and handicapped. His favorite team was the Braves of Atlanta, Georgia. Derrick loved his family and regularly reached out to them with phone calls and visitations, until his health began to fail. Derrick always told others that there is no other family like his family.   On a regular basis, he kept in contact with everyone and communicated that information to others.  He was the glue that bonded many individuals together.

He knew and accepted our Lord and Savior years ago. When he was able, Derrick enjoyed attending Bible Studies regularly.  He was previously a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and later joined another church in the Tavares, Florida area.

Sunset
After Derrick’s health progressively worsened, God called Derrick from mortality to his Eternal Home on Thursday, July 28, 2016.  He leaves to cherish his loving memories:  one Son, Trevon “Tre” Stanley of Tavares, FL; 2 brothers – Steven Daniel, Sr. and Eugene Daniel (both of the Metro Atlanta area); 3 Sisters – Hattie “Cal” Hardin, Cassandra Obie, and Sharon Washington (all of the Metro Atlanta area); 2 Godchildren – Kaneeshia Walker and Westley Green (both in the Central Florida area); 3 Maternal Aunts – Mary Walker (Alphonso) of Mt. Dora, FL, Minnie Burrows (Joseph) of Valrico, FL and Reather Waller (Charles, Sr.) of Eatonton, GA; two Maternal Uncles – Willie Hunter (Fannie) of Covington, GA and John Thomas Jackson (Rosa) of Bloomfield, CT; one “Like a Sister” Mary L. Clayton of Miami, FL; a very special cousin who he kept in closer contact with – Laurie Levell Morgan; and a host of other beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,  cousins and friends.

His Maternal Grandparents, Willis “Buster” and Minnie Jewel Hunter, preceded him in death; he was also preceded in death by one sister, Janice Park.

“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

I was deeply sadden to learn of this news. I will continue to pray for his beloved son, Tre and Steve his brother and the rest of the family. I thank God for such a loving and caring cousin. Derrick loved the Lord and would speak of His goodness on many occasions during our many marathon phone conversations about the word of God Derrick was always checking on the entire family even us in Detroit. He would tease me about how crazy it was for us to live in such weather conditions snow, ice and freezing temperatures. he encouraged me to move to Fl many times. Derrick even offered me a place to live when I had a job offer in Leesburg until I got settled. I knew he mentioned he was under the weather but had no idea how serious things had got. Take your rest Man of God..

Sending hugs & love to the family. Although we can't be there with you all this weekend, we are with you all in spirit. Still a bit in shock that I can't call Derrick and talk crazy to him then bust my side at his response back to me. Already miss that day before your bday call that I used to get from him. However, I realize that he is in a much better place with all of the family GREATS that have gone on before him. Prayers, prayers, & more prayers for everyone as we prepare to celebrate Derrick's life and lay him to rest. RIP Cuz. Miss you much already.

May Jehovah the God of all comfort sustain you: By meditating and trusting in God’s promises found in the Bible you can find real hope and strength to keep going during this difficult time... Revelation 21:3-5 Promises us a future blessing of no more pain, suffering, nor anyone dying... Acts 24:15 Lets us Think of the Joy we will have when we see our dear loved ones again alive and well right here on earth. May the peace of God be with you all.
