David Jerome Smith, age 57, passed on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Minister Phillip Fowler will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Whiteline Street, Montezuma, Georgia.
David Jerome Smith was born February 9, 1958 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia to the late Mary Smith. He was preceded in death by three siblings: Jerald Smith, Betty Brown and Johnny Smith. He was a graduate of the historic D. F. Douglass High School and a member of the Bethel A.M.E Church. David retired as Custodian after working faithful for over 35 years with Macon County Board of Education.
He is survived by a half brother, Frank Davis, Ideal, Georgia; five nieces and nephews, Angela Jackson, Americus, Georgia, Albert Jackson, Montezuma, Georgia Antaures Jackson, McDonough, Geogia, and Anthony Jackson, Montezuma, Georgia, and Jeremy Robinson, Warner Robins, Georgia; nineteen great nieces and nephews, Kaylen Robinson, Ashily Jackson, Adam Carson, Jr., Justin Carson, Sabrina Jackson, Marquel Jackson, Christian Jackson, Marcus Jackson, Quintavius Jackson, Betty Jackson, Antaures Jackson, Evan Jackson, Alec Jackson, Mahogany Joiner, Abria Jackson, Anthony Jackson, II, Amori Jackson, Tadrian Thomas, and Aden Jackson; a host of beloved great nieces and great nephews; a host of of relatives and friend, including a special devoted and loving friend, Cynthia Burnam; two devoted friends, Eugene Solomon, Shawn Martin, Pamela Ward, and Barbara Ann Patterson.
