Colvin Minter, age 64, passed on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St.  Marks Baptist Church, 96 Hobbs and Briggs Road, Buena Vista, Georgia.

Colvin was the youngest son born to the late Smith Minter and Susie Anna Murray Minter on January 9, 1953 in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by one uncle Felton Minter. He was educated in the public school system of Schley County, Georgia where he acquired his high school diploma from John Lewis High School in 1973. While in high school Colvin was a valued basketball player. Following high school he attended South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia. During the 2000-2001 basketball seasons he coached the Kings Academy Basketball Team of Americus, Georgia. Colvin was a faithful Steward at St. Paul A.M.E. Church and Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church, in Oglethorpe, Georgia; he also served as Assistant Superintendent of Sunday school at Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Colvin was united in holy matrimony for 43 years to the late Queen Esther Tookes Minter. To this union they were blessed with one daughter Colbretta Q. Minter and one grandson, Jonathan Luke Thompson. He enjoyed assisting his wife in raising foster children and in his past time he enjoyed racing motorcycles, boating, and fishing.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, Colvin completed his task on Earth for the rewards that was granted to us by our Heavenly Father. “Let not your hearts be troubled, nor let it be afraid.”

He leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter, Colbretta Q. Minter, Ellaville, Georgia; grandson, Jonathan Luke Thompson, Ellaville, Georgia; an adult child, Courtland Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, John Smith Minter, Americus, Georgia; four uncles, C.W. Minter (Rotha Mae), Eastman, Georgia, Milton Minter, Sr. (Irene), Buena Vista, Georgia, Clarence Minter(Marjorie), Buena Vista, Georgia and Willie Minter(Louise), Buena Vista, Georgia; one aunt, Mary Lou Minter, Buena Vista, Georgia; brothers/sisters-in-law, Henry L. Tookes (Naomi), Jacksonville, Florida, Willie E. Tookes (Mrs. Tookes) , Macon, Georgia, Doddie Tookes, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Gloria Dean Thomas (Rev. My condolences to the Minter's family and friends for the loss of Colvin .The resurrections that Jesus performed give us confidence in his power about the future. Jesus will resurrect a many people, including unrighteous people who knew nothing about the True God .They will be given an opportunity to know and love him .Acts 24:15; Romans 24:14;Psalms 37:29

We would like to offer our condolences for your loss. How comforting it is to know that Jehovah, the God of all comfort, will soon eliminate all grief and provide permanent consolation when “all those in the memorial tombs will hear Christ’s voice and come out”! (John 5:28, 29) God promises that “he will do away with death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” (Isa. 25:8) Then, instead of having to “weep with those who weep,” all earth’s inhabitants will “rejoice with those who rejoice.”—Rom. 12:15.

You have my sincere condolences. “May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7) May the hope of a resurrection right here on a restored earth bring you comfort. (Acts 24:15; Psalm 37:11, 29)
